Between parenting two small children, working full time, and trying my best to be a friendly member of society, coffee is an absolute necessity.

Before I go to bed, I make sure that my moka pot is prepped with fresh grounds and water so I don’t have to do anything other than heat it up on the stove in the morning. I’ve been using a moka pot for years and I absolutely love it. You pour the grounds straight into the metal filter so there’s no paper waste, plus I can dump the used grounds directly into my compost tumbler. Win, win. The only caveat with this type of brewing method is that you need to be within earshot of the moka pot while it heats up so you can turn off the stove once it starts boiling.

I always take my coffee to the office in this glass travel mug. I’ve tried metal and plastic tumblers over the years but it seemed like the contents always took on the flavor of the material. This glass container and silicone lid do not add any additional flavor to my coffee, plus they are super easy to clean. Once I get to work, I’ll ease into my inbox with caffeine close at hand.

Midday Pick-Me-Up

Whether I’m at work or at home, I love an afternoon cold brew. This is also the only way John likes to drink coffee, so he’s usually the one to get the brewing process going. This particular cold brew maker takes about 40 minutes from start to finish, which is much faster than the overnight brewing method I used before. Plus, once the coffee is ready, you can store the glass carafe in the fridge!

Weekends

The weekends are a much different story. One of my favorite things to do is cozy up on the sunniest part of the couch and sip my coffee in peace. There’s usually kids and dogs hovering around but it’s all part of the experience, right? My favorite mugs were either made by my dad (an amazing potter!) or thrifted.

Mugs & Tools

Aside from the coffee makers, I have a handful of other accessories that really elevate my drinks. My parents gifted me an electric milk steamer for Christmas one year and it’s my favorite way to add foam to my coffee. I also love this round ice cube mold for keeping my cold brews chilled. And of course, it’s great to have coffee scoops at the ready for accurate brewing.

Cheers to caffeine!
