I’m back with another room tour!

As the main guest bathroom in our house and also the preferred space for all of us to get ready in every morning, our downstairs guest bath is always in high demand. It’s been through a few different style iterations over the three years we’ve lived here but the most recent version is floral-inspired with lots of vintage elements.

Much like in a kitchen, I love, love, love having a window in the bathroom. Not only does it bring in fresh air but I adore the way the light changes in here throughout the day. Late afternoon is when this space really shines.

When I thrifted this frame, I had every intention of using it to showcase Briar’s class photo. But the black and white picture that the frame came with was so cool, I couldn’t bring myself to remove it. She might even be a stock photo but IDC. So here she lives in all of her 1970s-inspired glory, against the paisley peel & stick wallpaper from Opalhouse.

The gold frame (thrifted, of course) features a photo I took at a proposal session at the Huntington Library a few years back. I have 8 billion photos on my hard drives…might as well put them to good use!

I recently found this vintage brass shelf at a secondhand shop on Main Street in Ventura and it’s been a great way to bring even more plants into this tiny space! It was one of those magical thrift finds that you spy out of the corner of your eye and immediately have to snatch up. I think it was maybe $4? THRIFT, YOU GUYS. That’s where all the good stuff is!

This little piece of art came from an antique store in Los Alamos and the flocked chartreuse border complements the colors of the real plants in the bathroom. The slight imperfections make me love it even more.

Here’s another example of a thrift find that instantly captivated me: this $15 vintage mirror! Its curved shape softens the hard angles of the neighboring frames and its oversized scale helps to amplify the natural light. I think both kids are now tall enough to spot their reflections in it, too!

Whenever I see large trays or silver platters like this, I snag them because they make the perfect landing spot for everything from plants and skincare to vintage glasses and pretty liquor bottles. Keep in mind that in a water-friendly location like a bathroom, it’s important to add rubber feet to the bottom of the tray so the metal doesn’t corrode on the counter.

While most of my home is styled with secondhand finds, I’m not above the occasional big box score. I found this mini shelf on clearance at Target a few years back without knowing where it would end up. Finally it dawned on me that it would make a sweet plant stand in a floral-themed bathroom and now it makes me happy every time I walk in.
