How I Elevate My Hotel Room Coffee Experience

As I’ve gotten older and wiser and my standards have simply shot through the roof, I’ve made it a habit to travel with my own coffee set-up. Hotels often come equipped with a coffee maker, but much like not being able to sleep without my fan and humidifier, I’ve figured out what I like best and I stick with it. Creature comforts, you know?

When we went up to Cambria a few weekends ago, I brought Prospect Coffee grounds, an electric kettle, a pour over dripper, and my favorite mug (because coffee tastes infinitely better in a handmade mug, natch). If you’re going to be extra, you gotta go ALL IN.

This time I went the pour over route but next time I’m going to try bringing my Aeropress so I can compare the experiences. Will report back.

I should also note in addition to bringing a whole coffee set-up, we always pack our toaster for easy bagel breakfasts. It sounds like a lot but since we keep all of our food prep supplies in a big Rubbermaid container, it’s super easy to tote them in and out of the car.

Walking five steps from my hotel room to the fire pit to sip coffee in the misty morning air? Now that’s living.

And to top off a long day of playing on the beach, shopping downtown, and celebrating another gorgeous vacation on the central coast, nothing beats an adult bev enjoyed al fresco. Fireside, of course.
